Growing up in Hampton Roads, Virginia, felt like living inside a living history book. Every cobblestone street in Colonial Williamsburg whispered tales of the past, and the wind rustling through the Yorktown Battlefield carried echoes of battles fought. This region, steeped in history, was my playground. I was fascinated by the stories of those who came before – the early settlers, the Revolutionary War heroes, and the generations of watermen who have sustained their livelihoods from the Chesapeake Bay. Then, life threw me a curveball. An accident in 2023 shattered my sense of normalcy, leaving me adrift in a sea of uncertainty. But amidst the chaos, I rediscovered the quiet joy of painting. Lost in the vibrant hues, the dance of watercolors, I found a way to express the emotions I couldn't put into words. The frustration, the fear, the yearning for healing – all these emotions found their way onto the canvas, transforming into abstract expressions of my inner turmoil. Slowly, I began to emerge from the shadows, finding solace in the act of creation. Painting became a lifeline, a way to reconnect with myself and the world around me. I started to see the beauty in the everyday – the delicate dance of light and shadow on the water, the resilience of the oyster reefs, the timeless beauty of the Chesapeake Bay. My art is a reflection of this journey – a blend of history, personal experience, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. I hope my paintings invite you to see Hampton Roads through my eyes – to feel the weight of history, to appreciate the dedication of the watermen who continue this vital tradition, and to discover the enduring beauty that exists within us all.

From a young age...

Art has been an integral part of my life since childhood. My journey began at the tender age of five, a spark that ignited a lifelong passion. This journey culminated in my studies at the renowned Visual Art Center of Virginia in Old Town Portsmouth, where I explored diverse artistic expressions and discovered my unique voice as an artist. As I grow older I feel the need to capture and share our beautiful community and all of the people and things that make hampton roads amazing.
